Moving Walls Planner
This guide walks through Classification — Step 1 of the 6-step Add Inventory wizard in the Moving Walls Planner — covering every field on the step, the cascading Venue Type hierarchy, and how the chosen venue type controls which Format options become available.
Overview
The Add Inventory wizard has six steps: Classification → Location → Operations → Pricing & Terms → Media → Panel. This guide covers the first step only.
Classification Field | What It Defines |
Classification | Base inventory type — Digital or Classic |
Venue Type Parent | Broad venue category (e.g., Education, Financial, Government, Health & Beauty, Leisure, Office Buildings, Outdoor, Point of Care, Residential, Retail) |
Venue Type Child | Narrower category within the chosen Venue Type Parent (e.g., Colleges and Universities, Schools) |
Venue Type Grand Child | Most specific venue category (e.g., Athletic Facilities, Common Areas, Residences) |
Format | Display technology available for the chosen venue type — only populated once a Grand Child with formats is selected |
Size Category | Physical size bracket — Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large |
Sell As | How the inventory can be sold — Individual Only, Network Only, or Both |
Media Owner | The Media Owner account this inventory record belongs to |
Part 1: Starting a New Inventory Record
From the Inventory list, click Add Inventory. The Add Inventory wizard opens on step 1, Classification, with the remaining five steps shown across the top: Location, Operations, Pricing & Terms, Media, Panel.
A Classification Tips panel on the right explains that Venue Type Parent sets the core category of the inventory, Format specifies the display technology, and Size Category helps buyers filter inventory by physical dimensions.

Choosing a Parent (e.g., Education) enables Venue Type Child with the matching sub-categories — here, Colleges and Universities and Schools.

Part 3: How Venue Type Controls the Format Field
The Format field depends entirely on the Venue Type Grand Child chosen. Selecting Athletic Facilities leaves Format disabled, reading "No formats available," since no display format is mapped to that venue type.
Format disabled — "No formats available" for Athletic Facilities
Switching Grand Child to Common Areas unlocks Format with a matching option — here, Digital University Campus Screen. Select it to continue.
Format populated — Digital University Campus Screen, for Common Areas
Part 4: Size, Sell As, and Media Owner
Open Size Category and choose the physical size bracket: Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, or Extra Large.
